Can I register as both an investor and a corporation?
Sure. In fact, we encourage it. If you have a virtual airline related company, then by all means, register as a corporation. However, if you have the urge to make a lot of money, then register as an investor. Your investor account is where you will spend your money.
How many investor and corporation accounts can I have?
One of each.
This looks cool, but I do not know how to buy and sell stocks. Can you briefly tell me how this works?
Yes, we have written documents on the Basics and a glossary of stock-related terms to get you into the swing of things. Click on these hyperlinks: Stock Trading Basics and Glossary of Stock Related Terms - You can also ask people on the forum that just opened on Thursday, March 14.
Is stock trading unlimited?
We just lifted the limit. We previously had one, but it was eliminated. We will adjust the limit as necessary.
It is great that you give the investors $1,000,000, but what can I do with this money beside buy stocks?
Pretty soon, corporations will be charging for services rendered and there will be plenty of opportunities to spend the money.
Do you charge commission?
Yes, we just started charging commission on all stock trades. Commission is virtual 1% of all sales amounts. We started charging commission at 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, March 22, 2003. Commission rates can change at any time, with or without notice.
Money Issues
I see stock selling millions and billions of shares and the stock change prices are very high compared to the VASM or some of the real life stock exchanges. Is this realistic??
This is totally realistic. We start each investor out with a million US dollars. With over 500 investors as of May 1, 2003, it is easy to see
why a corporation can sell millions of shares. Our rate of exchange is much higher compared to other virtual and stock exchanges. There
is really nothing wrong with that. We want people to exchange. It keeps the site alive. We want you to have enough money to invest and as
the number of stocks get accepted into the exchange, you will need more money to trade with.
what does "V$" mean?
V$ (virtual money) is the currency symbol in front of numbers to measure the amount of money a stock or trading balance is worth. Since we have
members from over 25 countries, one country's currency will no longer work. "V$" is a currency that can work for everybody from any
country and it eliminates the need to convert currency between countries.
Investor Portfolio
I just sold a stock and made virtual millions. However, my cash balance shows a negative balance. Why?
Some people sell the stock when they the share price is lower than the buy price. In order for an investor to make money,
the investor must wait for the share price to go higher than then what the investor initially purchased it for. For example, some people will sell
a million shares at $50 per share and expect their investor balances to go up by over virtual $50,000,000 US. That is fine as long as the
stock price is higher.
Why do I have a negative cash balance.
There is only one reason why an investor would have a negative balance. The 1% commission charges by VASX2003 can bring
your cash balance to the negatives. Until then, you will not be able to purchase stocks. You willneed to sell your existing
stock before you can purchase more. This is realistic to real life.
Corporations
I just registered my corporation with VASX2003. Why does it not show up on the symbol index?
When a corporation registers, its stock is in pending status which means that its corporation successfully registered, but it is waiting
to be approved for listing on the index. In other words, the stock still needs to be approved by our Corporation Entry Webmaster.
This webmaster will visit the site of the corporation and make sure it meets the
corporation requirements to be listed. Virtual Airlines must have a decent web site and follow the virtual airline
web site standard. Thus, it must contain a downloadable fleet, have at least one pilot and be stationed at at least one hub. If it is
approved, then the stock will show up on the stock symbol index.
